Idaho has always been a stronghold of American freedom, where the U.S. and Idaho Constitutions protect our rights, families, and way of life without compromise. Pioneers like those who founded our state embodied self-reliance, equality, and justice under one set of laws for all.

 

But recent events in other states serve as stark warnings. Dearborn, Michigan—the city with America's largest Muslim-majority population—openly prioritizes Sharia-style rules over constitutional norms—honoring Hezbollah/Hamas supporters with city street signs while banning critics as “Islamophobes,” defending loud 5:30 a.m. mosque calls to prayer against resident petitions, and allowing Muslim parents to purge books from public school libraries by declaring them contrary to Islamic teachings. These actions—led by elected officials who boast of governing by “our (Muslim) values”—have sparked national protests over “Islamization,” proving that without explicit legal barriers, one religious code can override American law and silence dissent.

A free and ordered society ought never to tolerate the creeping influence of foreign legal systems like Sharia, which clash with our principles of equality, women's rights, and constitutional supremacy—especially when they spark division and violence in once-unified American towns.

 

In the wake of these tragedies, Idaho should reaffirm its commitment to upholding American laws above all others and ensure our state remains a place where constitutional protections prevail without the threat of foreign ideologies undermining them.
